Jefferson A. Wilson -- Standard Economies

Standard Economies

Unlike the basic five ratings, which are basically independent of each other, the Economic Rating is completely dependent the other ratings, and it should be possible to extrapolate what it should be from the other ratings.
Wealth Communication Transportation Production
0.0?1.00 Only face-to-face communication is used. There is no form of record keeping People must transport items on their backs. Simple devices like packs or baskets may help a person carry more. All items must be made by hand. Specialized tools and materials are not generally used.
1.0?1.01 Record keeping exists, but is completely verbal and relies on memory. Animals may be used to pack loads or for riding. Animals may also drag loads, but proper roads do not exist. Items are made by hand with the aid of tools designed for that particular task.
2.0?1.04 A semi-permanent and somewhat inefficient means of storing and transmitting records exists. Animals pull wheeled vehicles and roads exist along major trade routes. Cargo ships follow water routes. Items are made by hand from specialized materials using specialized tools.
3.0?1.08 Important communications in limited numbers travel at better than the speed of general transportation. Roads exist between most communities. Improved roads exist along major trade routes. Materials are processed separately from the manufacture of items made from them. Large and expensive machines aide in processing and manufacture.
4.0?1.13 Mail networks become generally available.
5.0?1.20 Economic theory. Pervasive communication nodes (telegraph) Regional. Railways. Replaceable parts.
6.0?1.29 broadcast communications (radio) Continental Assembly line.
7.0?1.40 Use of economic indicators levels boom and bust cycles. Orbital
8.0?1.55 Unmediated communications Interplanetary Modeling
9.0?1.72 Navigating the Future. Trans-stellar
A.0?1.95 Interstellar
B.0?2.22 Sub-Galactic
C.0?2.57 Intra-Galactic
D.0?3.01 Galactic
E.0?3.56 Extra-Galactic
F.0?4.27 Universal
